The Police Community Relations Office of Kowloon City District (KCDIST) and Kowloon West Regional Crime Prevention Office conducted three talks on the prevention of telephone deception and campus theft for Mainland undergraduates of the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) on its Summer Programme Orientation Day on July 3.
Acting Police Community Relations Officer of KCDIST Kwong Yin-ting explained to over 450 Mainland undergraduates the modus operandi of telephone deception as well as the importance of securing one's personal belongings. Officers introduced the Anti-Deception Coordination Centre's "Anti-Scam Helpline 18222" and distributed leaflets and souvenirs to the students with a view to raising their anti-deception awareness and reducing their risk of falling prey to crime.
Meanwhile, over 60 Mainland undergraduates of HKBU visited Kowloon City Police Station on July 10 and 19 to gain a better understanding of its facilities and frontline operation. The visits also strengthened communication between the Police and the Mainland undergraduates. KCDIST will continue to maintain close liaison with tertiary institutions to disseminate anti-deception and anti-crime messages.
