I wish to say a million thanks to the Hong Kong Police Force for maintaining Hong Kong's stability amid the many demonstrations since June. My heart wept when I saw how police officers were insulted, provoked, attacked and brutally injured.

The Police have stood up to unprecedented confrontations, threats and challenges. Hong Kong would have been turned upside down without your unfailing support, bravery and competence.

As always, I am so proud of you, a first-class and the best ever Police Force in the world! You have my full respect, gratitude and support!

Officers, I am sure that in the last few weeks or months the Force has had a lot of bad days. I am very much obliged to you that you have put this little city you serve above your pride or even your life. I believe you all are risking your lives for us. Every time you gear up, you put citizens' safety above yours.

Officers are also human, but you all choose to protect us by sacrificing your personal holidays, leisure events and important gatherings. You all decide to discard everything and respond to the call. Furthermore, you all sacrifice so much of your family life to serve and protect Hong Kong people. Officers, you are doing a job that we simply couldn't do. In a life-or-death situation, you have just a second to work out a decision and therefore we know you are facing huge pressure in dealing with each critical situation.

Officers, your work has been highly underappreciated. I want you all to know that we are all with you. We thank you for everything that you do. You all have completely and perfectly demonstrated to us the spirit of the motto "We Serve with Pride and Care".
