The Family Conflict and Sexual Violence Policy Unit (FCSV) held a sharing session with Mother's Choice on July 30 with a view to expanding the community services network of the Force and providing better support services to vulnerable children and teenage girls facing crisis pregnancy.

Chief Inspector of FCSV Cheung Po-yuet led officers of the unit and four summer interns of the Police Mentorship Programme (PMP) to attend the sharing session. Apart from explaining the Force's work in protecting young people and handling family conflicts and sexual violence, FCSV officers also talked about the Police's procedures in handling such cases as well as relevant crime trends and legislation. They said that FCSV is committed to expanding the service scope of the Force and collaborating with different stakeholders to provide timely referral and support services to people in need in the community.

Community Education Advisor of Mother's Choice Ms Monique Yeung also introduced the services of the organisation in the sharing session. The services, targeting for young girls facing crisis pregnancy, include a crisis hotline, counselling, the provision of a hostel as well as pre-natal care and post-natal support. To prevent crisis pregnancy among youth, Mother's Choice offers a holistic sexuality education programme for local secondary school students as well as workshops for teachers and parents. Moreover, Mother's Choice provides temporary care, foster care and adoption services to children without permanent families.

Representatives of FCSV and Mother's Choice shared their work experience and explored collaboration opportunities for providing training to frontline officers. They also discussed ways for identifying needy cases for referral so as to give early intervention and support to people in need.

If officers want to get details of referral services and Mother's Choice's workshops, they may contact Senior Inspector of FCSV Hui Nok at 2860-2584.
