The Juvenile Protection Section of Hong Kong Island Region (JPS HKI) arranged a group of young people to visit the Cape Collinson Correctional Institution in Chai Wan on August 9 under the Rehabilitation Pioneer Project of the Correctional Services Department (CSD).
The event aimed at encouraging the young visitors, who were under the guidance of JPS HKI, The Salvation Army Wan Tsui Home for Boys as well as Shing Tak Centre of the Society of Boys' Centres, to better understand the work of the CSD, develop positive values towards life and become responsible and law-abiding citizens.
On that day, the visitors toured the correctional facilities to learn more about the lives of male young offenders undergoing training under the Training Centres Ordinance. By listening to a sharing by some rehabilitated inmates, the visitors were inspired to ponder on the serious consequences of committing crimes.
Meanwhile, some CSD officers explained to the visitors the objectives and activities of the Rehabilitation Pioneer Project as well as correctional services.
