The Road Safety Team of Traffic Hong Kong Island (T HKI) held the "Road Safety Poster and Slogan Design Competition Prize Presentation Ceremony cum Student Road Safety Campaign 2019" at Aldrich Bay Community Hall on September 20 to commend students for designing creative posters and slogans to promote road safety.
The presentation covered the Anti-Drink-Driving and Anti-Drug-Driving Poster Design Competition as well as the Road Safety Slogan Competition, which were organised by the Road Safety Team of T HKI and co-organised by the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (Hong Kong and Islands Region) starting in mid-April.
Six primary schools on Hong Kong Island participated in the competitions with 127 and 58 entries of posters and slogans respectively. Acting Senior Superintendent of T HKI Chan Hoi-lun, Acting Assistant Commissioner of Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (Hong Kong and Islands Region) Mr Lam Chun-man and Chairperson of The Education University of Hong Kong Past Students' Association of Early Childhood Teacher Education Dr Mak Tse How-ling acted as adjudicators to select the champion, runners-up and merit awardees for each competition.
Officiating at the prize presentation ceremony, Senior Superintendent of T HKI Yip Siu-ming, Acting Assistant Commissioner of Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (Hong Kong and Islands Region) Mr Lam Chun-man, Chairman of Eastern District Road Safety Campaign Committee Dr Liu Kai-ming, Chairperson of Development, Planning and Transport Committee of Wan Chai District Council Ms Lee Kwun-yee and Chairman of Central and Western District Road Safety Campaign Committee Mr Chow Chiu-sheung presented prizes to the awardees. Mr Yip Siu-ming also made a speech to remind the audience of the importance of road safety.
Teachers, students and parents attended the prize presentation ceremony to show their support to the awardees. All entries of the competitions were displayed in the venue for appreciation. The Hong Kong Police Band, the Police Magic Club and the Traditional Skills Association of Hong Kong gave performances in the event. A short animation about road safety was also shown. The event helped disseminate road safety messages to the participants.
