Traffic Kowloon West (T KW) partnered with road safety campaign committees of various districts in KW Region as well as Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol Kowloon West Region (HKRSP KW) to organise a road safety event, entitled "Road Star Award Presentation Ceremony cum Cantonese Opera Performance", at Ko Shan Theatre on September 26.

The Road Star Scheme has been held by T KW with the assistance of various road safety agencies since 2010 to promote road safety to senior citizens. This year, a road safety photography competition was held under the scheme. Contestants were required to submit photographs to remind other road users the importance of road safety.

Officiating at the award presentation ceremony were Superintendent of Investigation and Support Division of T KW Suen Wa-hing, Chairman of Yau Tsim Mong Road Safety Campaign Organising Committee Mr Law Siu-hung, member of Sham Shui Po Road Safety Campaign Committee Ms Huang Kuei-yun, Honorary President of Kowloon City Road Safety Campaign Committee Mr Chan Kin-ping, as well as Regional Commander Mr Jacky Lau, Supervisor Ms Tse Suet-sum and Senior Assistant Supervisor Mr Brian Chan of HKRSP KW.

The officiating guests congratulated the awardees and reminded over 1 000 elderly participants and their family members to comply with traffic regulations and use traffic facilities properly. Meanwhile, a Cantonese opera troupe staged an opera and a road safety drama to further disseminate road safety messages to the audience.
