Officers of Regional Crime Prevention Office of Kowloon East (RCPO KE) attended quarterly meetings of Hang Hau Rural Committee and Sai Kung Rural Committee in October. They briefed village representatives on crime trends in KE Region and promoted Project EYEWATCHER to advocate the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance systems on major roads and at hidden spots in the neighbourhoods for enhancing security.
RCPO KE distributed warning signs saying "Our village is under 24-hour surveillance" to member villages of Project EYEWATCHER that have installed CCTV surveillance systems. Villagers can display the signs at the entrance to their villages.
Launched by RCPO KE in November 2018, Project EYEWATCHER has gained strong support from villagers in Tseung Kwan O and Sai Kung. Many villagers have installed CCTV surveillance systems in the neighbourhoods. The project helps prevent burglary and facilitate crime detection of the Police.
