The Police Training Team seconded to the Tobacco and Alcohol Control Office in the Department of Health (DH) held an eight-day foundation training course for six newly recruited Tobacco and Alcohol Control Inspectors in November.

The course covered two main areas: the main provisions of relevant ordinances and regulations, as well as inspectors' enforcement powers and duties; and handling skills, such as evidence collection, exhibit handling, and the management and control of uncooperative offenders.

The DH also arranged six senior executives from the Office for Regulation of Private Healthcare Facilities to sit in on some lectures to equip themselves for the implementation of the Private Healthcare Facilities Ordinance (Cap. 633).

The course was well received by participants, who, through a series of practical exercises, were able to build up their skill sets and increase their confidence in performing statutory roles and functions.
