Lantau District (LTDIST) analysed crime trends in Lantau South Division (LTSDIV) and found that village houses were vulnerable to burglaries at Christmas and New Year. Before the start of the long holidays, LTSDIV enhanced anti-burglary measures by conducting nocturnal high profile anti-burglary patrols, conveying crime prevention messages and engaging with the local community to raise their burglary prevention awareness.

Officers also encouraged residents to participate in the project "Lantau Eyes", which has proven effective in strengthening cooperation between the police and residents to prevent and detect crime in the district. The project promotes the installation of communal security camera systems in rural areas, while reinforcing the sense of shared ownership in tackling crime.
