Family members of the deceased of the body-in-cement murder case presented a pennant to officers of District Crime Squad 2 of Tsuen Wan District (DCS 2 TWDIST) on January 16 in appreciation of officers' outstanding performance, professionalism and teamwork. TWDIST Commander Kerry Carew led the officer-in-charge of the case, Senior Inspector Cheung Man-tik, and his team to receive the commendation.
In March 2016, three males killed the deceased at a flat in Tsuen Wan. The dead body was then encased in a block of cement. After failing to remove the cement block, the trio fled to Taiwan. The investigation of the case was taken over by DCS 2 TWDIST. The trio were later located and arrested by the police upon their return to Hong Kong. The first defendant was subsequently found guilty of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. The second and the third defendants were each sentenced to 17 years' imprisonment for manslaughter and preventing the lawful burial of a body. The judge highly commended the police for their professionalism in the investigation.
