Officers of Regional Crime Prevention Office of New Territories North (RCPO NTN), together with Yuen Long District's designated investigation team responsible for handling animal cruelty cases, visited the Rescue Centre for Abandoned Pets Limited (RCAP) in Tin Shui Wai on February 17. During the visit, the officers shared their experiences in the investigation of relevant cases, as well as the strategies to promote animal welfare and protection in the region.

RCAP is a charity established to rehabilitate abandoned animals by giving them a permanent home. The centre is currently housing around 400 dogs. Ms Wong, person-in-charge of RCAP, took the opportunity to share with the officers her experience in rescuing a puppy on the street and the efforts in finding a permanent and loving home for the puppy. This is one of the many examples in her animal rescue career that motivates her to promote the protection of animals.

Through this visit, the officers have a better understanding of the rescue work of abandoned animals. Inspector Hui Wing-yan of RCPO NTN and the designated investigation team said the visit had enriched their knowledge as well as allowing them to understand more about the tremendous difficulties faced by these institutions in animal protection. RCPO NTN will cooperate with more animal protection groups to actively promote animal welfare and protection. Members of the public are also encouraged to report suspected animal cruelty incidents in order to help safeguard the welfare and rights of animals.
