Tuen Mun District (TMDIST) invited representatives of Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) to share with frontline officers their experience in implementing the extended Community Support Service Scheme (CSSS) on March 12 to enhance officers' understanding of the scheme and encourage their participation in it.
The extended CSSS is a joint programme operated by the Police and five social service organisations (including HKFYG) with the aim of providing timely support services to arrested youths and their guardians. Apart from introducing the details of the scheme and various support services provided by HKFYG at the sharing session, the speakers also explained the psychological conditions and needs of the arrested youths and their guardians, and stressed the importance of providing them with timely support services.
Officers exchanged ideas with the speakers and concluded that the sharing session helped them understand the important role played by the Police in the scheme. Deputy Commander of TMDIST Ngan Yuen-yee, thanked HKFYG for their continued support and said that TMDIST would continue to cooperate with HKFYG to further enhance law-abiding awareness among youths, reduce their recidivism and assist them in developing positive life attitude.
