Commissioner Tang Ping-keung, accompanied by Regional Commander of Kowloon East (KE) Lui Kam-ho, officiated at the opening ceremony of the new KE Regional Headquarters complex cum Ngau Tau Kok Divisional Police Station on November 20.
Apart from designated green areas, the new 16-storey complex has adopted a number of energy-saving features and renewable energy technology, such as a solar-powered hot water system and a motion-activated lighting system to achieve the goal of sustainable development.
The new complex has brought 10 formations in KE under one roof, which had once spread all over the region, including the KE Regional Commander’s office, Administration Wing and Operations Wing of KE in Tseung Kwan O, Police Tactical Unit KE in Kwun Tong, Crime KE Regional Headquarters in Tsz Wan Shan, as well as Emergency Unit KE, Traffic KE, Railway District Headquarters, Ngau Tau Kok Divisional Police Station and the regional indoor range in Kowloon Bay.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Commissioner said that such unity would enhance the overall command and operational efficiency of the region to better equip the Force for handling future challenges.
Attending guests of the ceremony included Director of Architectural Services Mrs Sylvia Lam, representatives of the contractors responsible for constructing and designing the building, community leaders as well as local dignitaries. After the ceremony, the guests toured various facilities inside the building, and all of whom spoke highly of the new design.
