Wan Chai District Outstanding Police Officer Contest cum Commendation Ceremony 2020, jointly organised by Wan Chai District (WCHDIST), Wan Chai District Office and Wan Chai District Fight Crime Committee (WCH DFCC) to boost the morale of frontline officers, was held at the Police Headquarters on March 5, 2021 to commend officers for their outstanding performance during the execution of their duty in WCHDIST over the past year.

The adjudication panel selected the winners for a total of 60 awards. Awardees included WCHDIST officers, anti-riot team of Eastern District and Emergency Unit of Hong Kong Island. WCHDIST Commander Chan Sze-tat and dignitaries including Wan Chai District Officer Mr Rick Chan, Chairman of WCH DFCC Mr Yeung Ka-shing and Convenor of the Commendation Ceremony Preparation Committee Mr Wong Ka-yeung also attended the ceremony.

This year the Gold Award went to District Crime Squad 1 (DCS 1) of WCHDIST in relation to an arson case which occurred in the small hours on March 20, 2020 in which three suspects hurled a petrol bomb at Happy Valley Police Station. Later, the three suspects fled the scene in a getaway private car with a fake car plate. After thorough investigation, DCS 1 WCHDIST located the suspects which led to the apprehension and prosecution of six people.
