The Force Management has endorsed the Force-wide implementation of the Chinese-style foot drill that will take effect from July 1, 2022. Apart from ceremonial events and passing-out parades, officers of all levels will adopt the protocols of Chinese-style foot drill on a daily routine, such as saluting.

On December 30, 2021, the Hong Kong Police College (HKPC) launched an e-learning course on Chinese-style foot drill, which comprises an introduction on the implementation and application of Chinese-style foot drill, key differences between Chinese and Hong Kong-style foot drills, as well as basic knowledge and skills of drill movements. A certificate will be issued to officers who have completed the quiz at the end of the course. Officers are encouraged to access the e-learning course via the Central Educational Repository (CERT).

The HKPC will also launch a Force Training Day package on Chinese-style foot drill in the second quarter of 2022. Drill instructors will be deployed to deliver in-person training during Formations’ training days to enable frontline officers to learn the essential skills of Chinese-style foot drill and giving vocal commands. Tailor-made workshops on flag raising and lowering will also be organised for frontline units.
