Recruitment Division (RECDIV), together with Correctional Services Department, conducted a joint recruitment talk for 200 secondary students at Yan Chai Hospital Tung Chi Ying Memorial Secondary School on July 27. In addition to helping the students know more about how to join the Force and policing work, the talk enabled them to set clear goals for their career planning.
RECDIV also commenced the series of Police University Recruitment Express, with first stop held at Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) on August 10. Students interested in applying for Inspector, Police Constable and Auxiliary Undergraduate Scheme could submit their application on the spot, and attended the written examinations and group interview which would expedite the subsequent selection processes. The recruitment talk, final interview board briefing, physical fitness test workshop and sharing session held by serving police officers who were HKMU graduates provided the students with information for joining the Force and getting well-prepared.
RECDIV will continue its recruitment campaign on the campuses of different universities, tertiary institutions and secondary schools in the forthcoming school year to recruit talents for the Force.
Summer internship programme
To establish closer ties with local secondary schools, RECDIV joined hands for the first time with the Hong Kong Association of Youth Development (HKAYD) to offer a summer internship programme to secondary students between August 17 and 19.
RECDIV kicked off the programme by holding a recruitment talk to the participating students and the representatives of the HKAYD, introducing the Force’s selection and training as well as the multifaceted police work. When addressing the session, Senior Superintendent of the Human Resources Branch Cheung Chi-wai stated that RECDIV would continue through various platforms to engage and foster partnership with schools.
To provide the students with on-the-job experience, RECDIV arranged for them a series of work including administrative support for presentations and preparation for publicity activities. RECDIV also organised for the students a visit to the Detective Training Centre where they experienced the detective training facilities.
RECDIV will continue to collaborate with schools and relevant stakeholders for recruitment and youth engagement.
