To raise public awareness of the prevention of cruelty to animals, the Animal Watchers Programme (AWP) held the finale event of AWP x 25A series – Bring Your Own Pet (BYOP) Treasure Hunt at Ocean Park on December 11, 2022.
In line with the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, 25 checkpoints were set up for nearly 1 000 participants to bring along more than 200 pet dogs of theirs to learn how to care for animals. Artiste Kalok Chow was invited to join the event with his pet dog for publicising messages of animal care and promoting AWP. Before the start of the event, participants who had brought along their pet dogs set a “hugging dogs” world record.
Different charitable organisations were provided free participation quota for people without pets of their own due to condition limitations to enjoy the fun of getting along with animals during the event. All proceeds from the event were donated to the animal charity, Home for Homeless Dog, directly supporting stray dogs to find their forever homes.
