The Safe Community Hub run by the Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit (ICTU) was opened on October 27. It is the first experience centre with the theme of counter-terrorism (CT) in Hong Kong for further promoting the message of “Safe Community” to the public through interactive experiences and activities.
The Hub, with an area of about 8 000 square feet, features the respective dedicated exhibition and interactive experience zones of the member departments of ICTU. Through virtual reality/augmented reality, motion detection and flight simulation etc., participants experience how to identify suspicious events to mitigate the risk of terrorist attacks. In addition to movies, there is a mini-interactive theatre where special programmes with simulated scenario will be arranged for participants to experience how to apply the tactics of “Run, Hide, Report” and “Spot and Report” in case of terrorist attacks or violent incidents. Through various activities in the Hub, the participants will have a deeper understanding on inter-departmental CT efforts and emergency response techniques so that the CT awareness and emergency response capabilities of the entire public will be enhanced for acquiring whole community CT engagement.
The Hub is located on 25/F, Revenue Tower, 5 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai. Schools, community groups can make group reservations, while members of the public can also make reservations for designated time slots. Admission is free. Region or District formations are welcome to arrange group tours for schools and community groups. For inquires or group reservations, please contact ICTU colleagues
