The Police Annual Swimming Gala was held in Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Swimming Pool on October 18, with Commissioner Siu Chak-yee invited as the guest of honour. The numbers of events and participants, as well as the 11 records broken, were all recent highs. Following fierce competition, Police Headquarters (I) emerged as men’s formation overall winners, while Public Relations Wing retained its women’s formation overall championship and additionally claimed the awards for the Best Participating Team and Best Cheering Team. As for individual awards, Inspector Ma Chi-wang won the men’s overall champion and Inspector Lam Suet was crowned the women’s overall champion five years in a row.
The Police Swimming Club (PSC) expressed gratitude for the participation of Force members and contribution of the 50 police volunteers. Moreover, PSC has been formulating plans to establish a junior swimming squad with a view to providing Force children with systematic training. PSC is canvassing opinions Force-wide and aims to welcome the first squad in the second quarter of 2024. Details of the junior squad will be announced in due course on the Force Noticeboard.
