The 1st Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Police Games were successfully held in Foshan, Guangdong Province between October 30 and November 2. The three places held the annual Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Police and Security Forces Sports Exchange previously. This year, upon mutual agreement, the event was upgraded to GBA Police Games with new elements added. In addition to general sports competitions, new events that demonstrated police fitness, policing skills and police manifestation were newly incorporated.
Commissioner Siu Chak-yee led a delegation comprising 82 athletes, 62 Police Band officers and 18 representatives to attend the opening ceremony. In the officers’ friendly matches, the football team led by the Commissioner and the swimming team composed of Assistant Commissioner (Public Relations) (ACP PR) Chan Sze-tat and Superintendent Lau Ko-chun won both champions of the football and swimming games. The shooting team composed of Deputy Commissioner (Management) Chan Joon-sun and ACP PR was the first runners-up in the shooting game. The Hong Kong athletes did their best in all the games and won a total of 5 gold, 13 silver and 5 bronze medals, securing the overall first runners-up.
