The Police College held the Directorate Development Programme 2023 between December 7 and 8, 2023, which was attended by three assistant commissioners and 16 chief superintendents. The programme aimed at providing a platform for the attendees to explore how the Force could face the challenges ahead. Members of the Senior Directorate Group shared their insights to inspire the attendees to equip themselves for shouldering senior leadership roles in the ever-changing policing and social landscape.
Keynote speakers from various fields, including Senior Counsel Tong Ka-wah, Prof Wong Kam-fai, Prof Cheung Yan-leung and Prof Zhang Wei-wei, were invited to analyse for the attendees topics in their respective fields, including the Hong Kong National Security Law, AI application and the country’s development and diplomacy, with a view to reinforcing the attendees’ understanding about national, social and technological development. In particular, Prof Zhang’s seminar was opened for attendance and exchange of Force members at all ranks and live broadcast via P-TV.
Commissioner Siu Chak-yee concluded the programme by sharing his views on strategic leadership with the attendees. He stressed that it was important for the attendees to shoulder their responsibilities in driving changes and adding value to their respective Formations in the face of internal and external challenges. The Commissioner reiterated that the attendees should strengthen communication with their subordinates for establishing a high-efficiency team.
