PURE Mainland
Superintendent of Recruitment Division (RECDIV) Chan Kit-fung visited Guangdong, Fujian, Chengdu, Beijing and Shanghai between October and December 2023 as a new round of Police University Recruitment Express (PURE) – Mainland to recruit Hong Kong students in the Mainland who were in their final year of studies to join the Force. In addition to providing police recruitment information to Hong Kong students in the Mainland, RECDIV arranged one-stop on-site selections. RECDIV also recruited Hong Kong students in the Mainland to join the Police Mentorship Programme (Mainland) (PMP Mainland) for connecting students aspired to join the Force.
Deputy Commissioner (Management) (DCP MAN) Chan Joon-sun and Chief Superintendent of Human Resources Branch Kwok Mei-sum attended a conference at Jinan University on October 31, 2023. They shared and interacted with students to understand their aspiration in joining the Force. DCP MAN attended a sharing session at the Office of the Government of the HKSAR in Beijing on December 3, 2023 to understand the students’ views on their employment prospects in Hong Kong so that the Force’s future recruitment strategies could be reviewed and optimised proactively. RECDIV received 405 applications from Hong Kong students in the Mainland and 198 applications for joining the PMP Mainland during this visit.
READ
RECDIV held the seventh Recruitment Experience and Assessment Day (READ) under the theme “One Team, One Vision” on December 17, 2023. The event attracted 2 284 visits and 478 on-site applications. READ consisted of three thematic sessions, namely Selection Workshops for Probationary Inspector / Police Constable, Interactive Police Unit Display / Recruitment Talk / Sharing of Training Experience and Physical Fitness Test Workshops. Participants can submit application and undergo initial screening on the spot. Given the overwhelming response of the Physical Fitness Test Workshops in previous READ, extra sessions were arranged this time, with four workshops on December 16 and 17, 2023 respectively.
This was the first READ during which visitors could join the newly introduced Recruit Police Constable Barrack Tour. Participants could visit the trainees’ barrack to exchange with the trainees and course instructors in person. In addition, a physical challenge was set up in this READ. Three participants who excelled in the challenge won the special prizes.
