The Public Relations Wing (PR Wing) held The Little Grape Carnival, a large-scale outdoor installation art exhibition with the anti-scam mascot “The Little Grape” as the theme, at the Harbourside Lawn East of West Kowloon Cultural District between February 17 and 23 to enhance the anti-deception awareness of the public, especially that of the children. The event attracted participation of 25 000 citizens.

Commissioner Siu Chak-yee attended the carnival’s special programme “The Little Grape’s Sea, Land and Air Parade” on February 18. He said in his speech that this year marked the 180th anniversary of the Force with the slogan “Safeguarding our city beyond 180 years”. The Force’s anti-scam mascot “The Little Grape” had achieved three “leaps” – beyond traditional media, beyond generations and beyond the sea, land and air - to promote anti-scam messages among the public. He also emphasised that crime prevention efforts should be made “since young age, with continuity and by everyone” to cultivate children’s anti-deception awareness. Other honourable guests included Assistant Commissioner (Public Relations) Chan Sze-tat, Chief Superintendent of the Public Relations Wing (PR Wing) Leung Chung-man and Senior Superintendent (Community Relations) of PR Wing Lam Sze-wan.

“The Little Grape’s Sea, Land and Air Parade” featured singing by singers and artistes with “The Little Grape”, group games, magic performances and introduction to the latest children’s story book released by the Force. A 12-minute sky show of 1 200 drones with the theme of the story book was staged above Victoria Harbour. At the end of the drone show, the audience interacted with “The Little Grape” in augmented reality.

The Ping On Ferry with anti-deception as its theme was arranged to moor on the sea opposite to the venue for the public to take photos. There were also game booths and a reading session hosted by teachers and students from the Department of Early Childhood Education of the Education University of Hong Kong to promote parent-child reading and cultivate anti-deception awareness. Numerous “The Little Grape” art installations were placed on the lawn to promote anti-deception.

After the carnival, the Force will continue working with the education sector to cultivate and publicise anti-deception awareness. PR Wing will present “The Little Grape” art installations and distribute the latest story book to kindergartens in order to assist teachers in cultivating anti-deception awareness in young children.
