Deputy Commissioner (Management) (DCP MAN) Chan Joon-sun, together with Director of Finance, Administration and Planning Tsang Oi-lin and Police Civil Secretary Ma Siu-hung, met representatives of seven civilian staff associations at a lunch gathering on March 5.
The representatives from Association of Police Translators, Association of Police Communications Officers, Hong Kong Traffic Wardens Union, HKSAR Government Traffic Wardens General Union, Hong Kong Police Force Telecommunications Technical Staff Union, Hong Kong Police Force Model Scale I Staff Association and Hong Kong Police Force Civilian Officers’ Union exchanged views with the Force management on the development of their grades and matters of concern to their grade members.
DCP MAN said in his speech that the workload of the Force had increased as the pandemic subsided. He sincerely thanked the civilian staff for staying steadfastly in their posts and providing multifaceted support in the past year. He understood that the civilian grades all encountered challenges arising from recruitment and retention in recent years. The Force would keep conducting recruitment exercises proactively for the civilian grades, as well as reviewing and expediting the recruitment process as far as practicable to ensure timely appointment of suitable candidates. At the same time, the Force management would endeavour to improve the working environment of the civilian grades to retain high-calibre staff to serve the Force. DCP MAN emphasised that the Force had been exploring ways to adopt innovative technologies to streamline procedures and improve work efficiency. Looking forward to the 180th anniversary of the establishment of the Force, he hoped that all members of the Force would continue to safeguard Hong Kong by upholding the Force’s spirit of “Serving Hong Kong with Honour, Duty and Loyalty” in a professional manner.
