The formal establishment of the Hong Kong Police Force was gazetted on May 1, 1844. Subsequently, May 1 each year is the birthday of the Force. This year marks the 180th anniversary of the Force, for which a series of celebratory activities are being organised. To enhance the public’s understanding about the history of the Force over the past 180 years, the Police College has produced a series of ten three-minute short videos entitled Police History 180. Each episode has a different theme to introduce various units/formations and their duties over the period for the audience to learn about the Force’s former and existing statuses.
The first episode was premiered on the social media platforms of the Force and P-TV on May 1, i.e. the 180th anniversary of the Force. An episode will be released fortnightly thereafter until September 4, when the last episode will be broadcast.
