On March 7, the Emergency Unit of Kowloon West (EU KW) and Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) held an exercise on handling violent person with suspected mental illness inside the Accident and Emergency Department (A&E) of PMH. The exercise began with a demonstration by officers of EU KW in handling an aggressive patient, followed by a scenario where a medical officer was held hostage by a violent patient with suspected mental illness to test the immediate response of A&E staff and security personnel, as well as their collaboration with the Force.

The exercise was conducive to enhancing the exchange among members of the Force and medical institutions, as well as improving officers’ professional capability and medical staff’s awareness of ensuring their personal safety.
