Chairperson of the Central Advisory Board (CAB) of the Animal Watchers Programme (AWP) cum Assistant Commissioner (Information Systems) Kwan Chui-ching chaired the 3rd meeting of the 2nd CAB of AWP on March 21, at which the secretariat reported the AWP campaign and community events held by the Regions in the fourth quarter of 2023 and the first quarter of 2024.
AWP has put forth the work under the theme of “Synergy for Great” since last year. The total number of participants reached 50 000 in 2023, which was 15 000 more than that of 2022. With support from the campaign, 30 schools have set up the Animal Care Corners with about 400 student ambassadors joining the programme. AWP will further expand the network of the schools’ Animal Care Corners in the coming year. The meeting also reported the “Hang-in-there Charity Challenge” held in October last year. In addition to attracting participation of 1 100 members of the public, the event raised HK$100 000 for Hong Kong Homeless Dog Shelter. All CAB members fully supported and recognised the achievement of AWP.
