Anti-drugs animation
To raise public awareness about cannabis and its products, NB has released two new episodes of Mighty Cat’s Diary to remind the public not to purchase, possess or traffic in cannabis and its products, lest they will violate drug-related laws.
Interactive anti-drugs drama
NB has produced the KOL Interactive Anti-Drugs Drama to spread anti-drugs messages among students in a novice manner. The drama features a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) who leads students through a package tour and often lures them to take and traffic drugs. The students need to join efforts in resisting drug temptation.
The premiere of the drama on April 30 was attended by 100 principals, parents and students from 36 primary schools. Between May and July, the drama will be staged in at least 30 primary schools across the territory, expecting to reach over 4 500 students.
No Drugs Juicy Van
With the anti-drugs mascot Mighty Cat as the theme, the No Drugs Juicy Van toured across the territory in April to spread the message “Cannabis? Never, Ever!”. Officers from the Narcotics Bureau (NB) and graduates of the Leadership Institute on Narcotics distributed orange juice served in limited-edition tumblers to around 6 000 citizens. The officers also explained how to identify cannabis edibles and had members of the public experience drug scent simulations and understand the characteristics and harms of drugs.
Anti-drugs seminars
NB officers visited tertiary institutions in April to disseminate anti-drugs messages among 200 tertiary students. In collaboration with the Education Bureau, NB briefed over 400 primary and secondary school teachers on drug-related knowledge, sentencing guidelines and harms of drugs, especially cannabis. The simulated drugs and drug-inhaling apparatus displayed at the seminars also deepened the participants’ understanding of drug hazards.
Conclusion
NB will continue its proactive anti-drugs education and publicity efforts, as well as strengthening its communication and collaboration with various community sectors to raise public awareness about the severe consequences of drug abuse and trafficking.
Force attends international drug enforcement conferences
Between January and March, Chief Superintendent Ng Wing-sze and Senior Superintendent Chan Kong-ming of NB led delegations to attend three international drug enforcement conferences, namely the 26th Asia-Pacific Operational Drug Enforcement Conference in Japan, the 67th Session of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs in Austria, and the International Drug Enforcement Conference in the Asia-Pacific in Vietnam.
In these conferences, representatives of the regions gave presentations on their local drug situations and had in-depth discussion about combatting transnational drug trafficking. These conferences successfully promoted collaboration and intelligence exchange among drug enforcement agencies of the jurisdictions.
