Deputy Commissioner (Management) (DCP MAN) Chan Joon-sun led a Force delegation to visit Chongqing between April 23 and 26 to inspect the tactics exchange between the Weapon Training Division (WTD) of the Force and the mainland instructors at the Chongqing Police College. He also officiated at the closing ceremony of the Instructors Exchange Programme.

Since 2003, the Force has been collaborating with the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) in providing Mobile Training to more than 3 000 Mainland officers from 28 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions. Suspended during the pandemic, the programme was reactivated this year and re-engineered from Mobile Training to the Instructors Exchange Programme based on the latest programme design.

The programme this year lasted four days. Led by Chief Inspector of WTD Tang Che-leung, the ten-person instructor team of the Force had in-depth exchange on tactics with 70 Mainland instructors. The programme covered various practical aspects, such as scientific research on use of force, immediate tactical intervention against extreme violence and scenario-based tactics application, with a joint exercise to mark the conclusion of the programme.

During the visit, DCP MAN met with Deputy Director of Personnel and Training Bureau of MPS Mr Chen Yan-chao. They recognised the success of the programme and looked forward to more exchange opportunities in the future. At the closing ceremony, DCP MAN commended the professionalism and determination for excellence displayed by all the instructors during the exchange. He also expressed gratitude to the MPS, Chongqing Municipal Public Security Bureau and Chongqing Police College for their staunch support.
