The Force participated for the first time in the Critical Communications World Conference held in Dubai between May 14 and 17. The event is the most influential international conference in the industry. Under this year’s theme, Securing Society and Industry, more than 130 exhibitors from over 80 countries and regions participated in the conference, with thousands of top industry elites and professionals in the communications industry coming together for exchanges.

The International Critical Communications Awards organised by the conference are the most prestigious awards in the industry, aiming to recognise innovative technologies and products, as well as excellent companies and units. This year’s awards saw a record number of entries.

As the only finalist from Hong Kong, the Force competed against a number of leading international enterprises for the honour with its HKSOS – RescueAI, which is the world’s first AI dedicated for rescue missions, and eventually stood out among the nine finalists by reinventing the traditional rescue work with advanced technologies to successfully become the winner in the Best Use of Advanced Technology Award.

The Force’s other two entries were also shortlisted as finalists: HKSOS and Smart Rescue Ecosystem for the Best Use of Critical Communications in Public Safety Award, and Signal Radar Rescue Drone for the Best Use of Advanced Technology Award.

Assistant Commissioner (Information Systems) Kwan Chui-ching said, “In this competition, the Force’s entries as innovation initiatives of Hong Kong being able to compete against major international enterprises and achieve a good result have greatly encouraged the research and development team.”

HKSOS - RescueAI is uniquely designed to work with HKSOS to speed up search and rescue missions by providing instant dynamic rescue intelligence to substantially minimise the time for reaching the persons in distress when compared to other conventional rescues means, thereby increasing the chances of saving lives.
