To streamline workflow and enhance workplace efficiency, Information Systems Wing (ISW) introduced the Force’s first internal AI chatbot – iQ in mid-July. In its pilot version, iQ covers the English version of Police General Orders, Force Procedures Manual and Police Manual.

The conventional search engine requires exact keyword input and lengthy viewing time. In contrast, equipped with large language model and semantic analysis for comprehending the meaning of the text input by the user in a short time, iQ can retrieve the most relevant information from its database and generate a summary promptly out of a large number of results to save searching time significantly. It can also provide quick links leading to the exact paragraphs. Furthermore, since the system is installed in the Force’s internal server, information security is ensured.

“iQ enables colleagues to read relevant guidelines at a glance, enhancing operation efficiency. It has the ability to adjust and improve semantic understanding automatically. Colleagues are encouraged to use iQ more often to speed up its ‘growth’,” said Superintendent of E-Police Division of ISW Li Ka-yan.

All Force members can access iQ via Departmental Portal on desktop computers. The mobile and Chinese versions of iQ will be launched soon. More policing related documents, such as laws of Hong Kong and work-related orders and manuals, will gradually be included in the database.
