In memory of the late Sir Shiu-kin Tang and expressing gratitude to his family’s continuous support to the Force, the Police College held the annual Display of the Mace Ceremony on July 8, with Commissioner Siu Chak-yee being the officiating guest. Sir Shiu-kin’s children Mr Richard Tang and Ms Yvonne Tang were present at the ceremony.

In his speech, the Commissioner recalled Sir Shiu-kin’s generosity and charity. He also expressed gratitude to the family of Sir Shiu-kin for their continuous support to the Force. At the beginning of the ceremony, representatives of the Police Band placed two silver maces on a traditional stack of drums, followed by a minute of silence. The ceremony was subsequently concluded with a selection of music performed by the Police Band.

Donated generously by Sir Shiu-kin’s family as an emblem of close relationship between them and the Force, the two silver maces displayed at the ceremony are paraded with the Police Band and major official functions of the government.
