The Financial Intelligence and Investigation Bureau (FIIB) held the five-day Financial Investigation Course (FIC) Putonghua Class 2024 between July 15 and 19. Delegations from the Mainland, Macao and Hong Kong were invited to explore various issues such as combatting money laundering and terrorist-financing, for promoting cross-border exchanges among law enforcement agencies.

This year’s class was attended by 40 trainees, including 26 officers from the Public Security Bureau, China Anti-Money Laundering Monitoring and Analysis Center, Macao Judiciary Police, Financial Intelligence Office of Macao, and the Commission Against Corruption of Macao, as well as 14 officers from local departments, including the Customs and Excise Department, Independent Commission Against Corruption, and Securities and Futures Commission.

In the opening ceremony, Chief Superintendent of FIIB Cheng Lai-ki pointed out that financial investigation was encountering many challenges. She stressed, “The training and exchanges in the class would enhance the officers’ financial investigation capabilities, improve their work efficiency and quality, and make greater contributions to the fight against financial crime.”

FIIB plans to hold the International FIC (English class) in November. Since its inception in 1988, the course has been attended by more than 1 800 officers from overseas, the Mainland, Macao and Hong Kong.
