To strengthen co-operation in enhancing policing with the community, Hong Kong Island (HKI) held a Crime Prevention Forum under Project SAFE on June 18. More than 200 guests, including the District Officers, District Council members and District Fight Crime Committee members of Eastern, Wan Chai, Central and Western and Southern Districts, as well as representatives from the Area Committees, Fire Safety Committees and District Services and Community Care Teams of the four districts, were invited to attend the forum.

The forum focused on four aspects, namely “protecting lives and property”, “preventing and detecting crimes”, “maintaining public confidence in the Force” and “fostering community collaboration”, on which HKI officers gave overviews of the past year. Officers from Crime Wing shared on the process in which some recent robbery cases were detected, their experience in mounting anti-deception and anti-money laundering operations, and the important role played by related stakeholders in helping the Force detect cases.

In his speech, Regional Commander of HKI Kwok Ka-chuen expressed gratitude towards individuals and organisations of various sectors for their assistance and support, and looked forward to strengthening co-operation and enhancing work in the community. He also encouraged the attendees to play an active role in fighting deception and remind their friends and relatives that “Ending Deception Starts with You.”

HKI launched Project SAFE in 2023 to unite and mobilise different stakeholders in the Region more efficiently for boosting the exchange of intelligence and combatting crime.
