The kick-off ceremony of Fight Crime Activities in Tsuen Wan District (TWDIST) co-organised by TWDIST and District Fight Crime Committee (Tsuen Wan District) was held on July 13, with representatives from Tsuen Wan District Office and different sectors in the District invited to attend. New Fight Crime Ambassadors, among whom stood 78-year-old Ms Lau Yuk-lin, a founding member of TWDIST Senior Police Call (SPC) and the oldest Ambassador, were appointed at the ceremony.

Ms Lau, who loves to sing, suffered a head injury in an accident when she was 60 years old. Her communication ability was damaged and she could no longer sing. With her greatest source of happiness lost, she fell into despair. Fortunately, with the encouragement of social workers and her family, Ms Lau joined the newly established TWDIST SPC in 2014. Through active participation in the SPC’s diverse initiatives and volunteer services, Ms Lau regained her passion for life. She hopes to share her inspirational story with fellow elders, encouraging them to live a meaningful life.

Chairman of TWDIST SPC Mrs So Chan Wai-hang commended SPC members for their enthusiastic participation in anti-deception and charity functions, saying that SPC would work closely with TWDIST in organising activities to enhance members’ self-confidence.
