To bolster the preparedness of the officers of the Police Tactical Unit (PTU) for large-scale incidents, the PTU Headquarters conducted the public event and counter-terrorism exercise in Sha Tin on August 14. The exercise simulated a series of terrorism attacks while officers were conducting crowd management at the Sha Tin Racecourse and Racecourse MTR Station. PTU and Counter Terrorism Response Unit officers, paramedics and MTR staff collaborated closely to execute evacuation and subdue suspects swiftly.

The exercise engaged over 500 officers with a view to strengthening communication and co-ordination among PTU and key stakeholders such as venue operators and major transportation systems, as well as enhancing the participating parties’ on-site decision-making, resource allocation and command protocols in response to emergency situations.

The exercise simulates a series of terrorism attacks at Racecourse MTR Station.
