Lantau District (LTDIST), in collaboration with the Fire Services Department, Hospital Authority and North Lantau Hospital (NLH), conducted a joint departmental exercise codenamed SOUNDSHADOW in NLH on August 21. The exercise, which involved around 80 personnel, simulated a scenario in which multiple suspects attempted to rescue a fellow gang member who was receiving treatment in the hospital. The suspects assaulted other patients with sharp objects and chemical substances, resulting in multiple injuries.

Upon receiving the report, Force officers swiftly arrived at the scene, apprehended the suspects, assisted in evacuating affected individuals to safe areas and managed traffic flow to ensure smooth arrival of emergency vehicles. A joint command centre was established by the participating parties to co-ordinate operations and manage the flow of injured patients. The exercise enhanced the personnel’s professional knowledge and emergency response skills, and improved co-ordination and communication between the Force and relevant government departments and organisations in handling large-scale incidents.
