To raise the seniors’ anti-deception awareness, Hong Kong Island (HKI) and the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) jointly organised an anti-deception campaign for seniors. The campaign kicked off on August 3 at the HSBC Main Building. In his opening speech, Regional Commander of HKI Kwok Ka-chuen said that the police would continue to work in concert with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the bank sector to fight commercial crimes. He looked forward to collaborating with more members of the bank sector in stepping up anti-deception publicity.

The campaign comes in three phases. In the first phase, Force officers and bank representatives disseminated information of latest scams and counterfeit banknotes to Senior Police Call (SPC) members. In the second phase, which commenced in late August, officers from all Regional Crime Prevention Offices visited bank branches in various districts to give anti-scam tips to bank staff and seniors in an enlivened way. In the last phase, SPC members will be taken on a guided tour of the HSBC Main Building, which has borne witness to the change of time over years.
