The Leadership Institute on Narcotics (L.I.O.N.) held its Leadership Training Camp at the Junior Police Call Permanent Activity Centre and Integrated Youth Training Camp at Pat Heung between July 27 and 28. 100 mentees took on a series of challenges that symbolised anti-drug work, hoping to sharpen their leadership skills and foster team spirit.
Another highlight was the anti-drug cultural exchange programme for youths from Hong Kong and Shenzhen held between August 15 and 16. Over 100 mentees and graduates, led by Assistant Commissioner (Crime) Chung Wing-man, visited Shenzhen to exchange views with local youths on anti-drug developments of both places to co-opt anti-drug approaches from the Mainland. The mentees visited the Shenzhen drug education base to exchange insights with local anti-drug pioneers. They also toured innovation bases and laboratories in Shenzhen and Dongguan to learn about how to combat drugs by means of innovative technology. The mentees also visited the opium war museum in Humen to recapture the 185-year history of Humen’s opium destruction.
Upon conclusion of the third cohort training, the mentees will put their skills into practice by launching large-scale anti-drug activities between September and November. L.I.O.N. is also recruiting for the fourth cohort to nurture more promising anti-drug leaders.
