In early March this year, a citizen lost a backpack containing a large amount of cash in the Choi Wan Commercial Complex. Having searched everywhere but to no avail, the citizen filed a report to the police. Officers of the District Intelligence Section and the Task Force Sub-unit of Wong Tai Sin District (WTSDIST) quickly checked the footage of CCTV nearby to identify the suspect. The investigators successfully arrested a woman and recovered over $370 000 in cash within four hours after the crime being reported. The case was handed over to District Investigation Team 7 of WTSDIST for follow-up and consolidation of prosecution foundation such as witness evidence, physical evidence and the suspect’s statements.
The informant sent a letter of appreciation to the management and staff of WTSDIST, praising officers of the Force for their dedication to serving the public, as well as expressing the true delight for having a police force that serves the public wholeheartedly.
