The Scholarship Presentation Ceremony of the Police Children’s Education Trust and the Police Education and Welfare Trust for the 2023/24 school year took place on August 15. Officiating at the ceremony were Commissioner Siu Chak-yee, Chairperson of the Joint Management Committee of the trusts Prof Woo King-hang and Chairperson of the Joint Investment Advisory Board of the trusts Ms Au Pui-yee. The two chairpersons also presented certificates to awardees and parents.


Since their inception over five decades ago, the trusts have been motivating police children to study hard and contribute to society through scholarships, bursaries and grants. For the 2023/24 school year, the trusts disbursed over $13 million in subsidies.


Speaking at the ceremony, the Commissioner encouraged the awardees to keep equipping themselves. He also thanked Dr Eddy Li, the late Chairperson of the Joint Management Committee of the trusts, for his contribution to the education of police children. The trusts will set up Dr Eddy Li Scholarship for Excellence in the 2024/25 school year for those police children with excellent public examination results. In his speech, Prof Woo King-hang congratulated the awardees and encouraged them to strive for their goals through coping with difficulties.


Via video and speaking on the stage, Ms Cheng and Mr Tse, the awardees of the Scholarship for Outstanding Talents, shared experiences of how they learned fencing and joining international competitions. Ms Yung, the representative of the awardees, thanked the trusts for their financial support to the awardees.
