Regional Commander of New Territories South (NTS) (RC NTS) Mak Chin-ho and Chief Superintendent (CSP) of Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) Lam Cheuk-ho officiated at the opening ceremony of NTS Digital Forensics Laboratory at NTS Regional Headquarters on September 13 to mark the commencement of the third Regional Digital Forensics Laboratory and the establishment of NTS Regional Digital Forensics Unit under Project RISE.

NTS Digital Forensics Laboratory has set up the Force’s first self-service forensics centre equipped with various self-service forensics tools, including Online Evidence Preservation Tool, X-Swift, Visualisation Support System and Automatic Speech Recognition System. CSTCB aims to decentralise the expertise in digital forensics by establishing self-service forensics centres and providing appropriate training. The arrangement allows frontline crime officers to directly extract evidence from devices for cases involving simple evidence collection, thereby improving overall operational and investigative efficiency.
