The facilities of the hearing rooms of the Force Discipline Adjudication Unit (FDAU) have been upgraded, with the new audio-visual recording system put into full operation since September. The main features of the new system include the use of high resolution video cameras to capture images of parties in the hearings, SD cards to store digital record, and ceiling-mounted digital displays to play video evidence. The adjudicating officers can administer all the hearing facilities at their fingertips through the central control panel at their bench. Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) (ACP P) Chan Man-tak said, “Digitalisation of the hearing rooms will definitely enhance the operational efficiency of the Force disciplinary system and project the Force’s professionalism in disciplinary proceedings.”

In addition, FDAU is developing a speech-to-text application through utilisation of the Force’s internal speech recognition engine, Transfly, to streamline the process in the preparation of proceeding records by adjudicating officers.
