The Chairperson of Animal Watchers Programme (AWP) Central Advisory Board (CAB) cum Assistant Commissioner (Information Systems) Kwan Chui-ching chaired the fourth AWP CAB meeting on October 15, during which the Secretariat reported the working progress of AWP. At the meeting, the Secretariat highlighted the achievements of the AWP and regional offices for the first three quarters. As of September, participation in AWP activities exceeded 50 000, surpassing the total number of participants for all activities last year. It was also reported that the AWP Student Ambassadors’ Appointment Ceremony had been held in July. At present, 463 student ambassadors from 39 primary and secondary schools and kindergartens with Animal CARE Corners on campuses have been appointed.
Additionally, the Secretariat forecasted the activities to be held in late December, including charity run, adventure run for animals and pet owners, and the attempt to set a world record for the most people simultaneously kissing dogs, aiming to promote the awareness of animal welfare among the public through diverse activities.
