Officers from the Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) and Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) attended the Global Anti-Scam Summit Asia 2024 held in Singapore between October 20 and 21. With its theme “The Network to defeat a Network”, the summit endeavoured to establish a global network to combat transnational financial scams and cybercrimes. The latest 2024 Asia Scam Report presented at the summit highlighted an estimated total loss of around HK$5.4 trillion over the last 12 months in Asia, which accounted for 67% of global scam loss.

Representatives of the Force were invited to elucidate the Force’s efforts in combatting scams and enhancing cybersecurity. Superintendent of CCB Lee Wai-see introduced the main functions of the Anti-Deception Coordination Centre and new red flag indicators observed in Hong Kong. She also emphasised that efforts in identifying victims, recovering assets and raising public awareness of anti-deception all relied on coordination of team work. Superintendent of CSTCB Chan Shun-ching explained how Scameter+ leveraged AI technology and data for real-time analysis and issuance of alerts.
