The 14th INTERPOL Cybercrime Directors Workshop jointly organised by the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) and INTERPOL was conducted between October 23 and 24. The workshop brought together INTERPOL officers and cybercrime leaders in five jurisdictions, namely the Mainland, Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong and Japan, the representatives of which joined the workshop online.
The theme of the workshop this year was “Tackling Emerging Cyber Trends through Collaborative Policing”. In addition to facilitating representatives of the jurisdictions to proactively exchange insights regarding cybercrime challenges they faced, the workshop provided a collaborative platform for law enforcement agencies and enterprises to promote innovative solutions jointly. On the second day of the workshop, a Cybercrime Directors’ Sharing Conference was convened. Experts from the Cyber Security Action Task Force of CSTCB and over 220 Force officers joined two of the panel discussions highlighting issues such as deepfake technology, AI-related cybercrime, ransomware and malware threats.
In addition, Superintendent of CSTCB Hui Yee-wai was invited to attend the INTERPOL’s AI Forum for Law Enforcement Uses held at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from September 24 to 26. During the panel discussion titled “Harnessing AI in Organised Crime: Regional Perspectives and Innovations”, she presented the Force’s practical application of AI in cyber policing. Moreover, Hui Yee-wai conducted a sharing session for master degree students specialising in AI from the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, highlighting how scammers exploit AI for criminal activities. Her sharing garnered positive feedback.
