Anti-Digital Fraud Workshop
To enhance the capabilities of the banking industry against digital fraud, the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB), in partnership with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), Hong Kong Association of Banks (HKAB) and Digital Policy Office (DPO), held the Anti-Digital Fraud Workshop on November 13, bringing together 130 banking industry representatives from more than 60 banks and financial institutions. Representatives from CSTCB, HKMA and DPO delivered presentations covering the advancement in deepfake technology, how to identify deepfaked items, real-life case studies and countermeasures specifically designed for the banking industry. Chief Superintendent of CSTCB Lam Cheuk-ho highly praised the banking industry for its commitment to curbing technology crime. He also emphasised the importance of ongoing collaboration with industry stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
Co-hosting conference with HKU
CSTCB and the University of Hong Kong (HKU) co-hosted the 4th Annual Digital Forensics Research Workshop (DFRWS) APAC Conference 2024 between October 22 and 24, with a view to enhancing the overall technical capabilities and strengthening collaboration with the international digital forensics community. This year, the conference was run concurrently in Australia and Hong Kong. The conference attracted over 60 international scholars and experts from leading universities and digital forensic institutions, presenting cutting-edge researches and addressing future challenges in the field. For the first time, CSTCB was invited to speak at the event. Senior Inspector of CSTCB Lam Yi presented the topic of mobile malware threat management framework at the main conference in Australia. Simultaneously, 24 representatives from six local law enforcement agencies and HKU attended the virtual conference at the Hong Kong satellite site.
