For principals and teaching staff to gain deeper insights into current youth crime trends and potential risks, Crime Wing has collaborated with various school sponsoring bodies to organise themed seminars during Joint School Teachers’ Development Days.

Commissioner Siu Chak-yee attended the events at Yan Oi Tong and Lok Sin Tong on October 18 and November 1 respectively. In his opening remarks, the Commissioner emphasised the importance of strengthening efforts on preventing youth crime and fraud. He stressed that the Force, education sector and other stakeholders should continue to enhance their cooperation to create a safe and healthy learning environment. The Commissioner pointed out that the key to cultivating law-abiding awareness among young people was to start educating them since their young age with ongoing and concerted efforts from various stakeholders so that they would learn to protect themselves and the importance of abiding by the law.

In the previous academic year, Crime Wing provided training seminars on anti-drugs, digital literacy, anti-deception and child protection to over 5 000 teaching staff at the Teachers’ Development Day of various organisations. The teachers who attended the seminars expressed that the seminar content was highly practical, with knowledge and skills that could be directly applied to their daily teaching. Crime Wing aims to provide relevant training to 8 000 teaching staff in the current year. To date, Crime Wing has collaborated with various school sponsoring bodies, including Po Leung Kuk, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, Pok Oi Hospital, Yan Oi Tong and Lok Sin Tong, to organise five seminars that have attracted over
2 100 teaching staff.
