To enhance officers’ counter-terrorism (CT) awareness and understanding of the impact of AI on CT, the Security Wing (SW) invited Prof Mei Jianming, a distinguished CT academic as well as a doctoral supervisor in criminology at the People’s Public Security University of China, to chair a seminar titled “National Security and CT in the Era of AI: Concept Reconstruction and its Practical Significance” at the Safe Community Hub on November 21.


The seminar attracted nearly 100 officers from the CT Intelligence Cadre of the Force and other disciplinary forces. Prof Mei provided a comprehensive analysis of the new challenges posed to national security and CT efforts in the era of AI. He also shared his insights on enhancing Hong Kong’s CT initiatives.
