Marine (MAR), in conjunction with various formations, units and government departments, organised an inter-departmental counter-terrorism exercise codenamed QUICKBLADE in the waters off Tseung Kwan O on November 18. The operation involved over 200 officers from the Counter Terrorism Response Unit, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau, Emergency Unit of Hong Kong Island, A Company of Police Tactical Unit, Chai Wan Division, Fire Services Department, Marine Department and members of the Marine Police Mentorship Programme.

The exercise simulated a number of terrorists launching attacks both at sea and onboard a cruise. The participating formations and units demonstrated professional counter-terrorism and maritime interception tactics, showcasing their inter-departmental coordination. The exercise also served as a crucial preparation for the upcoming National Games to be held in Hong Kong next year to ensure that all events can take place in a safe environment.
